*Hercules* his story.

A  woman and her family surrendered *Hercules* to the Taylor County Shelter after losing their home to a fire. They had found *Hercules* three days prior to the fire and had been trying to nurse him back to health as best they could. The Elliot Team and Shelter Staff sprung into action like a well oiled machine, fluids were given, the gaping wound on his back looked raw and painful, it was flushed and cleaned. It was bitterly cold and Hercules was wrapped up snug and warm, even his food was warmed to ensure his core temperature did not drop any further. All i could do was hold back the tears, as i hugged him close and told him it would all be ok.

He could not stand, in fact he did not want to do much of anything, he just sat there looking at you with those gorgeous deep brown eyes that  seemed to say *please help*

He was taken home and fed small portions of high quality food every few hours as not to overload his emaciated system.

The following day he was taken to our wonderful Vet who dealt with the nasty injury by removing dead tissue and closing the wound, a quick dousing of silver spray to help preven infection, anti biotic shot, and a course for us to take home with us.

Slowly and surely with constant treatment and increased food intake hercules gained his true strength back. He slept in our room and snored like no ones business LOL, he was content.

Daily he gathered the strength to stand unaided, began to walk without pain, then finally trot around outside with his coat on, his stumpy tail wagging madly.

He is here with us still.

*Hercules* strong as an ox, gentle as a lamb.
